C, also called Vincent Wordsworth or Charles, is a recurring character in the Hello Charlotte series.

Appearance[]

In Hello Charlotte 1, C is only seen briefly with an Executioner's Mask covering his face. However, his characteristic white ponytail can be seen. Hello Charlotte 2 shows more of his face, revealing bright yellow eyes. C wears a white, button-up school uniform and ties his hair back with a black ribbon. Due to being bullied, he is often shown with bandages on his face with some bloodstains. In the Happy Ending, C is shown wearing an outfit more similar to Seth's. He wears a high-necked purple shirt with v-necked whtie clothing over it with a red spiked halo above his head and longer hair. C is also given gloves by Charlotte to cover up his hands, which are damaged due to severe hand-washing.

In his more human form, C is shown to be more representative of the 'real' Vincent. This version appears more timid, has brown hair, and black eyes. His band-aid is also smaller and more representative of a standard band-aid.

Hello Charlotte 3's C depicts Charles more closely. They both wear a black jacket over a white one and black gloves. C also wears black pants.

Personality[]

Very little is known about C's personality in Hello Charlotte 1. He is gentle and protective towards Charlotte, trying to help her. However, he's also mischievious and otherwordly, commenting on how the human body is fragile.

In Hello Charlotte 2, C states that he is the God of the world, but has also lost many of his memories. He spends most of the game trying to either gather information on the world he has been forced into or trying to leave his body and "return to his heavenly domain" by committing suicide. Despite his determination, however, he is afraid of doing this alone.

He is also mysophobic, and his obsessions with the "contamination" of the world and other people results in him facing heavy bullying and harassment from the other students. This bullying seems to lead him to doubt himself as a god, and lower his belief of his "heavenly domain." He has obsessive-compulsive tendencie, and repeatedly washes his hands and face at one point.

C is also self-deprecating and passive. He blames himself for the bullying Charlotte incurs by protecting him and being surprised that she helps accommodate his inability to touch things. When giving his story to Charlotte, he makes sure to let her know that she can throw it away if she doesn't like it, showing that he also has low confidence in his creations. He even allows this despite his love of reading and writing.

In Hello Charlotte 3, C is shown to be much more confident. He also goes by Charles, as Q84 knows his true identity as the God of This World. He is seen being very caring and protective of Q84, even trying to help prolong her life and holding her rotting form despite his mysophobia. C is very afraid of Scarlett Eyler due to his memories of her from the True Realm.

Story[]

Background[]

In Hello Charlotte Episode 3, it is revealed that C is Charles in a Vincent vessel. In Hello Charlotte 2, C regularly tries to trigger Scarlett's memories, giving her stories that she used to criticize and say things that he hoped would remind her of her past life. It is up to speculation whether or not C/Charles actually lost a portion of his memories, but it is true that he lost his ability to control any portion of Scarlett's world.

End of spoilers.

Hello Charlotte 1[]

C and charlotte

C talking to Charlotte

C appears in Hello Charlotte with his face covered by an Executioners Mask if Charlotte is chosen to stay behind in the Maze. C comes up to her and informs her of the eventual death of her and Felix, saying that he knows the way to prevent it. She allows him to possess her body, and this causes her eyes to turn yellow, similarly to how Umbrella Man's posession works. After commenting on how "fragile" her body is, he searches her stuff and uses the scissors he finds to kill White Freya. He then leaves and is not seen again in this game.

End of spoilers.

Hello Charlotte 2[]

C is first seen in an alleyway on the way to school on Day 1, getting beaten up by a group of bullies. Charlotte intervenes, however, and it is implied that if she didn't, they would have beaten him to death. She takes him to the infirmary, where he is bandaged up before class. When Charlotte goes to class, it is revealed that he is a new student joining her class. While he introduces himself, he claims to be "the God of this world." After class, Charlotte talks to him in the canteen, and their conversation is interrupted by Scarlett jumping off the roof, causing Charlotte to go home early.

On Day 2, C is seen when Charlotte runs to the bathroom, attempting to scrub off the "contamination" from having his face pushed into worm soup. After he comments on Charlotte's well-being, she leaves, and he isn't seen again that day.

On Day 6, Charlotte leaves Anri in order to find C and give him a pair of gloves she got from Felix. When she finds him in the School Library, he explains that he's been gathering information on the world in order to try to arrange his memories, but has found nothing useful. Charlotte advises him to look elsewhere and offers her Book of Truth, but C has to decline it as it's contaminated. Instead, she offers to tell him the contents of it, and in return he gives her his notebook which contains his Story of Two Gods. Charlotte leaves to change, but after she gets locked in the changing room, C finds her and explains that all the doors open for him. He says he needs to do something in the changing room, so Charlotte leaves and C isn't seen again that day.

On Day 25, C isn't seen before lunch but is found on the rooftop during lunch, beaten up again as a result of refusal to take the trash out. He mentions wanting to be rid of his body but having difficulty due to the security in the House and the School. Charlotte takes the opportunity to tell him everything she knows, and in exchange, C shares a memory about a life he had in a place called Aether, and about the body he had, which had the "gift" of causing cell apoptosis in anything he touched, and caused his mother's death. He mentions that loneliness is a human emotion and that it's a virtue to experience it as a god. After sharing their respective stories, C leaves to do more research.

Later that day, C attends class and sees Charlotte pass out when the news of the magcats death is announced. He carries her to the infirmary and upon her awakening, tells her he "found a way out" and invites her to come to the Outside World with him via -1F (???F).

In the Outside World, C and Charlotte look for a place to stay, and are first greeted with a marketplace with insects as shopkeepers, the offers of which C declines on their behalves. Next, they encounter a maze, and C consoles Charlotte as it triggers her memories of the events of the first game. After they get moving again, C brings up the topic of the four types of Puppeteers. Adam, Eve, Seth, and Lillith, and that they are usually assigned to someone of the same gender, making Seth's assignment to Charlotte an anomaly. Afterward, they enter an area with two statues, one of which is "Memorials for Anonymous Leaders, the True Rulers of the World", and the other being soul offerings.

The final place in the Outside World is the "Forest of the Defective". In this area, C explains that the victims of the Trial get their cubes reformatted, and what is left is a "Hollow Human" who will eventually die. Upon realizing that there's no safe place for them to stay, the two have a discussion about going back in which C talks about his cynical view of the world and in turn his plan to "go back" by committing suicide through overdose, and he invites Charlotte to join him.

If Charlotte accepts his offer to take the pills, they become "cruel gods with little regard for earthly matters" and results in the HAPPY END: Ignorant Bliss. Denying him, however, will reveal that he was trying to convince Charlotte to join him in order to overcome his own fears, and he will break down in a panic attack when Charlotte says she wants him to live, becoming unresponsive until guards come to take the two back to school.

When the Principal confronts them, C lies and claims it was his decision to leave and that he forced Charlotte along for a breath of fresh air. His social points are stripped away, and he is no longer allowed to go to class. C is aware that this means he would get no votes in the Trial, and he asks Charlotte not to vote for him as well, intending to use it as a last-ditch suicide method, and they part ways for the night.

On Day 31, C is absent again, but during lunch, Charlotte and Anri discuss his escapade with Charlotte, and Anri mistakenly assumes that he had been trying to use Charlotte for her body. Charlotte also finds a forged note claiming to be from C (but actually from the bullies) on her desk.

Black End[]

C meekly apologizes for not voting for Charlotte as she walks to the Smile Room, and she reminisces over knowing him. After her death, C is mentioned to cry over her "mere disposable vessel".

Grey End[]

C is the only person chosen during the Trial. The class calls him a "loser god" as he proceeds to the Smile Room, and after seeing his real appearance for the first time, Charlotte chases after him; her futile attempt to save him is what triggers her breakdown and subsequent consumption of the world. Once it's all done, she cries over his body until Umbrella Man gives her a copy of his soul data, at which point she releases him, allowing his soul to move on and become a Stargazer.

White End[]

Both C and Charlotte are chosen as Defective by the Trial, and the class laughs at them again. Once in the Smile Room, C says that he "lied" to Charlotte about his knowledge, and calls himself a "false god". Charlotte quickly retaliates by saying he's wonderful, and he dies with a smile. Charlotte specifically cites C as one of the things she wants to save in the resulting conversation with The Oracle.

Hello Charlotte 3[]

In Hello Charlotte 3, C has a more playful and confident demeanor. He is first seen in the School, trying to get Q84's attention. He uses Vincent's vessel so that he can blend in with the other students, and he enjoys using Vincent's vessel. Q84 offers C to join her during her Execution Hour, and he politely declines her offer.

C appears the next day after Q84 is attacked by someone (later revealed to be Scarlett) who forcibly linqed with her in the hallway. He watches over Q84 until she wakes up, and helps her get to her door.

On Day 3, C talks to Q84 after she is attacked by Bennett in the bathroom. He warns that she should stop spending spare vessels, as it will greatly shorten her lifespan. She ignores him and kills herself, discarding the spare vessel and ignoring him.

Later that day, C is at the School again. He quickly leaves when Scarlett shows up, and hides in the library to have a panic attack. Q84 accuses him of being afraid of Scarlett, which he vehemently denies, saying that he's "not afraid of a little girl." He leaves to go to the Infirmary to lie down.

After Q84 finishes investigating who bought the Linq used to attack her, she goes to the Infirmary to wake up C. He asks her to join him in lying down, and complains that the story is a disaster after she has completely destroyed all of the puzzles and SOCIALIZATION mechanics in the School. He also mentions that there is an imposter pretending to be him in the House. Q84 leaves after he questions her about the possibility that she is intentionally harming the other tenants when she sees that they are having fun without her.

C helps Q84 again after Scarlett attacks her during Anri's Execution Hour. He states that the Scarlett Eyler Q84 knows is the sister he wanted to have, rather than the tulpa from the True Realm who was a distorted reflection of himself.

In the finale of the Prologue, after Q84 makes her wish, C watches over her until she passes. Despite his severe mysophobia, he holds her even though she is rotting, and tries to comfort her before she dies. When the Umbrella Man reveals himself as C's "Father", he still asks him to save her despite his disdain for UM.

C's Diary can be found after restarting the game and beginning the second half of the game. It details the past interactions of C and Q84, as well as Q84's behavior throughout her life.

Notable Quotes[]

  • "There's no name that can define me, but you can refer to me as C."
  • "We will get rid of our heavy bodies, and rise above all earth dwellers. We will be the ones to purify this world. Will you accept, Charlotte Wiltshire? I want it to be your decision. Not somebody else's."

Trivia[]

  • C is likely based slightly off of the Vincent seen in etherane's Aether Almanac world, which features the White Queen as well as Vincent.
  • His character has been in existence as far back as etherane's first posted concept art, where he is shown wearing Puppeteer-like clothing and labelled "Vincent (God)"
    • In the Hello Charlotte 1 game files, his portraits are also called "Vince."
  • His birthday is on August 29th.
  • Charlotte is the only person who sees him with white hair and yellow eyes - to everyone else, he has brown hair and grey eyes.
    • An exception to this, however, may be Umbrella Man, who comments on C's hair being grey.
  • C is the only character in the game with an outline and eyes other than black (blue and yellow, respectively) on his walksprite. The reason behind this is unknown.
  • If C were the one to receive the Oracle, it would take an appearance more similar to him and he'd likely become the series anti-hero. He would try to cleanse the world of things he finds "filthy" or "unnecessary", and would get along with Frei.
    • He would definitely want his wish granted, and would merge more quickly despite C being squeamish about the Oracle's uncleanliness.
  • C is how Charles used to perceive Vincent, and is an idolized construct of the real Vincent. [1]
