Florence is a recurring NPC who appears in Hello Charlotte Episode 1, Hello Charlotte Episode 2, and Hello Charlotte Episode 3. She is also briefly mentioned in Heaven's Gate, and is set to appear in Rehab Friday with Henry Huxley.
Appearance[]
In Hello Charlotte 1, Florence's face was never shown, and she was instead wearing her bright yellow hazmat suit with a helmet covering her face. She takes of this helmet in Hello Charlotte 2 and 3. Florence has shoulder-length dyed cyan hair, that is usually slightly messy due to her wearing a hazmat helmet most of the time. She has lavender eyes, which also have a blue tint in Hello Charlotte 3. Florence wears a bright yellow hazmat suit with black gloves.
In her old Überian form, she has light orange hair that was cut short and pinkish eyes. She also had no limbs, and wore white hospital garb. In additional art etherane has made of Florence in her Überian form, she had longer orange hair, two legs, and a very large left arm that was usually covered in bandages.
Personality[]
Florence has a generally cheeful and upbeat personality. Many of the things she says in the first two games are rather whimsical and playful, especially when she uses dark matter to improve chocolate cake and steals lightbulbs. She happily accompanies Scarlett Eyler to the TV World, and even attempts to be friendly with her. She is also very responsible for a worker, trying to regulate her soap intake to maintain some thought processes.
Florence also has severe PTSD, similarly to Bennett, due to her past on Überia. She speaks calmly about it to Scarlett, and even cracks a few jokes when describing her painful experiences of being experimented upon. She has to take soap in order to cope with her trauma. This soap allows her and the other workers to mindlessly do errands and feel happy. She describes it as "the best thing that happened to us."
Story[]
Background[]
Florence used to live in the bio-prostethics division of Überia's research Faculties' Laboratory of Huamn Resources. Here, she was used by Overmen to experiment with prosthetics. Her limbs were constantly replaces with various alien appendages, and she was reduced to a "talking torso" when all of her limbs were removed.
At some point, she ended up working for Huxley, and learned that there was no real difference between overmen and men. She seems content with her new job, and now has limbs that she designed herself.
Hello Charlotte 1[]
Florence has a very small part to play in Hello Charlotte Episode One. She is found in the Chemical Lab in a hazmat suit, and is working on using dark matter to make chocolate cake taste better.
Hello Charlotte 2[]
In Hello Charlotte Episode Two, Florence becomes more of a character. She is first found in the Morgue Room, and asks Charlotte to hold onto some "useless" junk for her, as she is worried that she stole so many lightbulbs that Huxley may start suspecting her. Charlotte accepts Florence's request, and receives pepper spray as a result.
Later in the game, Florence gives one of Bennett's memory cubes to Charlotte, which she extracted from his brain while she was asleep. According to Florence, she made copies of this memory cube in order to blackmail Bennett in the future.
Hello Charlotte 3[]
Florence has her largest role to play in Hello Charlotte Episode Three in both the Prologue and in the main portion of the game. Florence attends Q84's deathday party, having believed Bennett when he claimed that Q84 was finally dead. When Q84 arrives, she and Felix stop Bennett from telling Q84 the real reason for the party, and claims it was a surprise party instead. She pours Q84 a drink upon request, and feels very awkward.
The next time Florence is seen is alongside Bennett, when the two have sedated Q84. She, Bennett, Felix, and Huxley plan to extract Q84's soulcube and possibly discover the secret to immortality. After Q84 attempts to escape, Florence searches for her along with the other workers.
After the prologue, Florence helps search for Charlotte Wiltshire by searching for power anomalies on Felix's orders. She notes that Scarlett will likely die in a few days, and sends Felix the information she collected. She wishes him and Scarlett a safe trip to 4F.
After Scarlett visits the Language World, Florence escorts Scarlett Eyler to the Laboratories on 6F to find Charlotte Wiltshire. Here, she describes her past and the other worker's past on Überia to Scarlett. At the final puzzle, she drinks the poison to allow Scarlett to continue onwards, but eventually appears ahead of Scarlett. The two then encounter O91 where Florence explains the unit's situation. Florence also emphasizes the fact that there is nothing Scarlett can do to change the current situation. As they leave, Florence tells Scarlett more about her past life on Überia, explaining why she and the others need soap. The two then depart from the TV World and return to 1F.
Heaven's Gate[]
Although Florence herself does not show up in Heaven's Gate, she is briefly mentioned in Interlude 26 when Felix is about to reach the end of his short lifespan. She is reportedly one of the many workers who is consuming large amounts of soap in order to continue working on a potential cure for Felix despite her being one of the few workers who regulates their soap intake.
