Hello Charlotte Episode 2: Requiem Aeternam Deo is the second game in the main Hello Charlotte Series, and takes place approximately three years after the first game.
Summary[]
Charlotte continues to live in the House with the Oracle's corpse inside her body, slowly eroding her health. She tries to manage her relationships with Felix, as well as trying to become friends with the new C while maintaining her relationship with Anri. As her delusions start to slowly fade from the world, it becomes clear that everything is not as nice as it may seem.
Meanwhile, the Trial steadily approaches, an event that will decide Charlotte's worth to society.
Story[]
The following may serve as a walkthrough of sorts, but beware of spoilers.
The game opens with a short monologue, presumably from Charlotte, talking about a dream in which the speaker is the world. After this, the slumbering god, or the Oracle, is seen once again. Charlotte notes that her dreams have always taken place in "a pitch-black land where time does not exist," after merging with the Oracle. However, tonight is different, as the Oracle has awoken.
Charlotte says good morning to Seth, and tells him that they will wake up and go to School. She wakes up coughing up ink as Magcat meows loudly at her. Charlotte decides to feed Magcat and greet everyone before going to School as she notes how the Umbrella Man told her that her health would become worse.
In Charlotte's nightstand is a picture of her and another girl, titled "Happy Birthday!!" This picture shows Charlotte with blacked out eyes, possibly referencing her appearance in the mirror within the Bear Channel. As the player has never seen this character before, Charlotte explains that this is her friend Henrietta who goes by Anri. Her wall is covered with red thread connecting numerous pictures, and it is titled "True Realm Research."
End of spoilers.
Endings[]
- Bad End: Do not put soap in the omnicubes
This ending is obtained from putting soap into the omnicube. Charlotte places the soap she obtained from the bathroom. The omnicube will self destruct. Lumps of meat appear to devour Charlotte as she thinks of how it all started with a bottle of soap.
- Bad End: Do Not Disturb
The ending is obtained from entering the VIOLENT ROOM when there is a Do Not Disturb sign on it. Bennett will be inside using a chainsaw. Pestering him causes him to screen and suddenly turn around, accidentally maiming Charlotte with his chainsaw.
- Bad End: We're sorry your IQ is too low for the next test
This ending is obtained from inputting the wrong numbers in the Cattell's Intelligence Test puzzle in the mirror world. Charlotte will promptly die as the ending appears on the screen.
- Bad End: Killing Mirror
This ending is obtained from getting the wrong answer at the Questioning Mirror, and using the ??? Mirror.
- Happy End: Ignorant Bliss
This ending is obtained by accepting C's offer to ascend with Charlotte.
- Black End: Everlasting Oblivion
This ending results from voting for C during the Trial. After voting for C, Anri is angered by Charlotte's betrayal and refuses to vote for her. Charlotte is voted as the Defective person, and is taken to the Smile Room. She is glad to have been able to save her friend, C, now revealed to be Vincent. The Oracle Frei holds Charlotte as the two rot and die as Charlotte recalls how she and Felix had once made their own endings to the Tale of the Ink and Paper Princess. In her ending, she had wished for the Ink Princess to be happy, stating it wasn't her fault she was born covered in ink.
- Grey End: Eternal Rest for a God
This ending results from voting for Anri during the Trial. Vincent is voted as the Defective. Feeling guilty, Charlotte rushes to save him and begs Umbrella Man to assist her. She sees that he is a mere human, but still goes into the Smile Room to save him, too late however as his soul data is already gone. Charlotte merges with the Oracle in her grief and swallows her world. The Umbrella Man offers her Vincent's soul data, which she releases to allow him to pass on. In addition, Charlotte goes on to hire Umbrella Man, giving him her name in exchange for him protecting alternate versions of herself. Done with her last bit of work, Charlotte rests in a dreamless sleep.
- White End: Stargazer's Journey
This ending results from withdrawing from voting during the Trial. Anri is angered, and both Charlotte and C are chosen as the Defective. C confesses that he was Vincent, and was never truly a god while Charlotte comforts him. In the ruins of her Mind Library, she merges with Frei to save everyone. Umbrella Man finds her after she accidentally swallows all the egos in the world, and Charlotte begs him to kill her. Despite this, he embraces her and tells her that they will go stargazing so that she can learn more and perhaps one day control her power. After Charlotte says goodbye to Seth, Umbrella Man talks to the player character and offers them to sell the name "Seth" for the potential of another ending. The game ends regardless of the choice that is made.
