Henrietta Warhol or Anri is a recurring character in the Hello Charlotte Series. She is both Charlotte's and Charles' best friend.

Appearance[]

Anri has long, dyed black hair, with two small and short twintails on the top corners of both sides of her head. Her hair covers her right eye. Anri also has silver eyes. She is often depicted as wearing a white cardigan over a black collared shirt, with a white ribbon tied in a bow around her collar. The sleeves of her white cardigan are slightly long, as they cover up part of her hands in one of her sprites. Anri is also wearing a black skirt with black thigh-highs and white shoes.

In Delirium she has a ponytail.

When shown in the True Realm after being bullied, Anri has long brown hair with bangs, and is wearing a red tracksuit with long white socks with a red stripe at the top.

In her mutated form, Anri's face is replaced with twisting red meat. Where her eyes and mouth should be, maggots spurt forth. Her hair and clothes are unaltered.

Heaven's Gate[]

Anri has a drastically different appearance in Heaven's Gate. She leaves her hair undyed and brown, and is shown wearing a variety of different clothes. Her most common one is her school uniform, where she wears a grey button-up shirt with a white ribbon tied around its collar and a white knee-length skirt. In addition, she wears black tights and white shoes. Anri still has silver eyes in Heaven's Gate.

Personality[]

Hello Charlotte 2[]

When Anri was younger, she was much more compassionate and kind than she is in-game, due to being an only child. After her brother was born, the pressure and lack of attention from her parents led Anri to feel empty inside and forced to maintain her parents' favor.

Anri is often callous, preferring to hurt others in order to protect herself, and initially spoke to Charlotte because she wanted to have someone viewed as more pitiful than herself. Despite this, she seems to genuinely care for Charlotte throughout the game. This is especially seen during the ending of the game, where she cries for Charlotte during the Trial.

Anri is consistently nice to Charlotte, sometimes to the point of being overwhelming. She often confesses to being forgetful, consistently leaving her wallet at home and asking Charlotte to buy her lunch, however because of her manipulative nature, it's unclear if this is genuine or if Anri is trying to exploit Charlotte for her own gain.

Hello Charlotte 3[]

False Realm[]

Anri is more timid and apprehensive than in the earlier games. She is easily manipulated by Q84 and rarely gets a say in the conversation, however Anri still appears more friendly towards Charlotte than others, offering to buy her lunch and waiting for her to come to school. When others are around, she is more quiet than usual and lacks confidence around them, however she still tells Scarlett they're all her friends and that everything is okay. It is said that Anri often gets a lot of death threats from other students from White Society. She is very secretive and careful around others so they don't find out about her dead brother.

True Realm[]

In the True Realm, Anri is more similar to her Hello Charlotte 2 and Delirium self, being reckless and blunt. She gathers blackmail on other students in order to feel safe, and often hangs out with those she gathers blackmail on. Anri teases and bullies Charles, but still enjoys going on dates with him and being together. She even goes so far as to dye her hair the same color as Charles. When Anri's parents make the decision to move, she's greatly upset and says she will genuinely miss Charles. In addition, despite her aloof nature, she seems to genuinely care for Charles, crying when he mentions committing suicide and saying she enjoys his stories despite consistently teasing him for them.

Delirium[]

In Delirium, Anri is noticeably happier, as her brother is dead and therefore not hindering her life. She is also more openly sadistic, talking casually about torture and "dealing with" the intruder.

Heaven's Gate[]

Anri's personality is similar to her mainstream counterpart, however she is less stressed. Partly due to Charles having less mental health issues and having a better relationship with him as a result. She was initially meek and subdued but after meeting Charles she became more confident, starting talking back to other girls. Charles notes that she seems less stressed outside of school, and she often talks to him and spends time at his house.

After she is attacked, she questions why things must be the way they are, and is much more depressed than normal. Eventually, she seems to go back to normal and continues to be friends with Charles up till their graduation from High School.

Story[]

Background[]

Anri's background is relatively consistent throughout all of the games. She was an only child when she was young, and enjoyed the attention her parents gave her. She stopped receiving it when her brother was born, and has since been forced to perform perfectly in school to take care of her brother, who later became a shut-in. Anri was also bullied in the past, and in most games, has eventually gained more confidence and gained more respect from her peers as a result. It is also worth noting that her family tends to be in poverty, resulting in Anri being forced to worry about money and get part-time jobs.

Hello Charlotte 2[]

Anri is first mentioned when Charlotte interacts with her nightstand, where there is a birthday card drawn for her by Anri. Charlotte mentions that she and Anri are best friends when this card is found.

At school on Day 1, Anri chides Charlotte for being late to class because she thought they were going to check homework. After class is over, Anri tells Charlotte that she forgot her wallet, and Charlotte offers to buy her lunch. Anri thanks her and waits for Charlotte on the rooftop, but Charlotte never arrives due to Scarlett Eyler's suicide.

On Day 2, Anri confronts Charlotte for leaving her alone on the rooftop, but eventually forgives Charlotte. On the classroom wall, "OUR GOD IS A LOSER," is written, which is heavily implied to be written by Anri. Later, when Charlotte's bag goes missing, Anri volunteers to go with her. As they find Charlotte's belongings, Anri gets angry on Charlotte's behalf, calling what has occurred "Unforgivable" and saying she will report it to the teacher.

On Day 6, Anri is seen on the third floor of the School, and invites Charlotte to feed the magcats in the Garden. She has once again forgotten her wallet, and Charlotte offers to buy the food in place of Anri. They buy the Junk Food, and go feed the magcats. Anri goes to change for PE class, and gets angry with Charlotte when she says that she has to do something before changing.

On Day 31, Charlotte is unable to find a group for the group project. Anri offers to work with Charlotte, and after class is over asks Charlotte to buy her food for lunch. They eat on the rooftop, where Anri confronts Charlotte about her recent escape with C. She gets angry, and suggests that C is after Charlotte for her body. She also suggests they go feed the now-dead magcats, and reassures Charlotte that it was not her fault that they died.

At the end of their conversation, Anri will ask Charlotte to vote for her during the Trial. If Charlotte accepts, Anri will kiss Charlotte. Charlotte will say it felt disgusting.

Anri's Tears

Black Ending[]

Anri gets angry with Charlotte for refusing to vote for her, and calls Charlotte's various ideas "lies" and says that the class tried to "teach her a lesson." She tells Charlotte that she doesn't care anymore, but Charlotte points out that she is crying.

Grey Ending[]

Anri is indifferent towards C's death and encourages Charlotte to laugh along with the rest of the class and to "forget that loser". When Charlotte tries to save him, she tries to convince Charlotte to stay with her, and openly worries about Charlotte not returning from the Smile Room.

White Ending[]

When Charlotte abstains from voting, Anri tells her that she has made a dumb choice. She tells Charlotte to go die already, but Charlotte points out that she is crying before leaving to the Smile Room.

Hello Charlotte 3[]

False Realm[]

Anri finds Q84 on the Second Floor of the School on Day 1. Anri has bought Q84 lunch, and Charlotte asks Anri to join her on the rooftop. When they get to the rooftop, Anri is apprehensive around Girl A, Girl B, and Girl C, who bully her and question why she didn't buy any lunch for the rest of them. Despite their bullying, Anri reassures Scarlett that they are all friends when Scarlett comes to confront the group for eating on the rooftop. Anri asks Charlotte if she will go to class, But Q84 reminds Anri that she has White Society activities to complete.

On Day 2, Q84 finds Anri and asks her to skip class. Anri timidly accepts, and the two go to the Canteen so that Anri can buy Q84 lunch. She buys Q84 some Sour Cream Chips, which Q84 says she hates. Anri says that this is the only flavor of chips.

When Q84 interacts with the White Society door, Anri comments on the fact that she has received numerous death threats from the members. They eventually go to the Principal's Office, despite Anri's protestations, and look through the Student Files.

Q84 comforts Anri

Q84 tries to comfort Anri

Once they leave the Principal's Office, Girl A and Girl C will ask Anri to invite them to her apartment. Anri is eventually forced to accept, and takes them to her small apartment. The girls berate her for having such a low-quality house, then decide to snoop around Anri's apartment once she leaves to get drinks, and discovers her dead brother's room. Anri tries to prevent them from opening the door, but they eventually find her brother's corpse and run away, terrified. Q84 finds Anri in the bathroom, crying, and offers to let Anri live in her house. Anri rants about her life, but eventually decides to stay in her home after all.

On Day 3, Anri is seen during Charlotte's Execution Hour, where she is tied up. Scarlett rescues Anri by stabbing Charlotte, and Anri is never seen again in the False Realm.

True Realm[]

Anri is first seen in the True Realm gathering blackmail on some bullies with Charles. Charles mentions that Anri will be hanging out with these bullies the next day, and likely does this in order to feel safe. As they run away, Anri asks if they should call a teacher and feels guilty for leaving behind the bullied girl.

Anri is next seen 682 days until the Trial, and texts/messages Charles. She criticizes him for using his icon and username, and says that she doesn't care that it's from the famous C. She tells Charles that they'll go on a date, and criticizes him for writing a "self-insert fic."

646 days until the Trial, Anri messages Charles about a date they'll be going on later that day to a movie theater. After the movie, she comments on the movie and decides that they will be going to a popular cafe. She takes a picture of her parfait, and gets angry when Charles almost starts eating before her.

651 days until the Trial, Anri is hanging out in Charles house. She tells him that her parents have made the decision to move far away from Charles, and mentions that she wants to run far away. Charles offers to run away with her, and she decides to book a hotel.

Anri cries over Charles

In the hotel, Charles hands Anri some pills in order to commit suicide and "escape." Anri gets mad, hitting him and crying that she wants him to live and that she accepts him. During this, she even confesses that she actually enjoys the story that Charles makes, and looks forward to it every week. Anri tells him to repeat the phrase, "It's not my fault" in order to calm him, kisses him and becomes temporarily mutated. After they're done crying, she dumps him and states that when she dates someone for real she wants it to be a cute girl.

Delirium[]

Prior to the game, Charlotte killed Anri's brother, making her happier overall. Eventually, she started living in The House and dating Charlotte.

Anri can be found in the Dungeon Room, where she says she's "come to play", and suggests that scissors won't be enough to "deal with" the intruder. Instead, she and Charlotte find a syringe that they hid in the Incineration Room. After using it to incapacitate Scarlett, she and Charlotte take her to the Corpse Room and watch while Bennett and Felix desecrate her body.

Anri then disappears in the world Charlotte takes her to, prompting Charlotte to look for her, and is later found connected to The Reign as a way to preserve her life. Charlotte and OSIRIS free her and use the energy of the world to go home, where Anri is healed and is safe for the time being.

Heaven's Gate[]

Anri is first seen in #10 Henrietta Warhol. She has been bullied into doing the cleaning by some of her classmates, and Charles offers her advice on how best to clean. She tells him not to tell her what to do, and asks him why he's staying behind when it's not his turn to clean. He says that he enjoys it, to which she calls him a weirdo. When Charles offers to clean for her, she tells him that the bullies are waiting outside, and that if she leaves too early they might think that she's slacking off. After they finish cleaning, Charles gives Anri a piece of candy, and although she's initially suspicious, she thank him. Anri gains confidence after this interaction, and stops being bullied. Weeks later, Anri and Charles start talking during lunch breaks.

In the first year of high school, Charles' class goes on a school trip. During a trip around an art museum, Anri gets lost and is unable to call for herp as her phone battery dies. Charles eventually finds her and leads her back to the group, and she clings to his shirt all the way back.

As she gets older Charles finds he enjoys being badmouthed by her and teases her about her taste in anime. After he asks her about starting a doujin circle together, she tells him to go away because he's a bother, and to go pester someone else.

Social Media

Charles complains about social media to Anri

While waiting with Anri for a class to start, Charles surfs social media, saying that he is tired of it because everybody is talking so much, but nobody is talking about things that really matter, and that he feels bad for contributing. Anri gets up and pinches Charles nose, asking him what he thinks people should be talking about, and who is he to decide what matters and what doesn't matter. Charles tells her he is just saying how he feels, and Anri says his opinions are worthless. It's like wanting a teenage melodrama to have a deeper meaning and she tells him to read a book or to talk to Vincent if he wants that. When Charles calls Vincent a god, Anri tells Charles that he is biased because Vincent validates him, then asks him what's so good about Vincent. Charles explains why he likes Vincent, and Anri reacts with disgust, causing Charles to note that she is jealous, causing Anri to tell Charles to go fuck himself. Charles tells her that Vincent would say "Would you kindly back off", to which Anri comments that they are essentially the same thing, and that Vincent just has high self-control.

During #20 Uncertainty, Anri comes to Charles' house on the weekend, and brings Henry who she is reluctantly babysitting. Charles notes how good he is at rhythm games, and Anri tells him that's all he's good for. Charles wonders if she is being harsh, and she responds by saying he deserves it because she is so lazy. Charles tells her his mind might work differently from everybody else, and Anri notes it's possible, but Henry mostly wants to play MMORPGs all day, and that she is tired from working part time jobs to pay for his habits. His lifestyle is equal to her monthly salary, leaving none for herself. When Charles says that her parents don't have to buy all of that, Anri says that if they don't Henry will refuse to leave his room.

Anri then asks if she and Charles are dating, listing off all of the things that Charles does for her. He thinks these are just things a decent person would do. Anri wonders what they should call their relationship, causing Charles to bring his philosophy into the discussion, annoying Anri. Charles tells her he isn't sure what to call it, and she tells her she feels the same. Anri kisses Charles, who doesn't enjoy the experience. He mentions that he isn't comfortable with physical contact, and wonders if there is something wrong with him. Anri tells him that it's not his fault, and that he should stop worrying about it.

Anri mentioned how Vincent is comfortable in his own company, and Charles tell her that Vincent used to surround himself with people, and only started isolating himself recently. Anri tells Charles that she has only spoken Vincent a few times, and it felt like he wasn't even there, and that he wasn't listening. She concludes that he is full of shit. Anri bets that Vincent would be the kind of person who would populate a planet with clones of himself and be happy, and Charles jokes that if he cloned himself, the result would be mass suicide. She concludes that it's fine that they're not romantic partners if Charles isn't feeling it, and tells Charles to thank her rather than apologizing.

The next time Anri is seen is when Charles gets a paralysis condition. She asks him if he's okay.

Anri hospital 1

Anri in a hospital bed

23 Visit is when Anri visits Charles to return a book. She mentions that the place where he lives is a hellhole, and is attacked by someone as she enters his building. She screams for help and gets stabbed and manages to get to Charles' house. She worries about getting blood everywhere, but Charles tries to tell her not to worry about it. Once Anri gets to the hospital, she becomes angry at the world and the fact that she has to be so scared all of the time.

27 Different presumably occurs much later, as Anri seems to be relatively unaffected by her stabbing. She mentions that Vincent is popular online, and gets surprised when Charles complains that he didn't like Vincent's stories. Anri also notes that the criticisms Charles has seems to reflect how he views the world in general, and calls him dense.

In #29 Exams, Charles confesses to Anri that Vincent was the creator of Heaven's Gate, the online cult responsible for numerous suicides. She tells Charles that Vincent is dangerous, and that he should be more careful around Vincent. Eventually, Anri decides to let the two of them figure it out, and tells Charles to talk to Vincent when he gets the chance.

Anri is last seen in #30 Graduation, dressed up for her and Charles' high school graduation. She says that she looks good and that he does too. Charles complains that he looks like his father, and she asks him if he hates it. She eventually leaves to talk to her other friends, telling Charles to go have fun.

Diary[]

In the Heaven's Gate/Diary, which is meant to take place in Episode Three in the True Realm, Anri's character gets more development. It tells the story of her life. When she was young, Anri's mother had Anri in order to try and keep her father from leaving. Her mother eventually left, and Anri's father got a new partner and had Henry with her.

As a result of her parent's neglect, Anri never learned proper hygiene as was harshly bullied for it. Once she grew up however, she became more objectified and sexualized, and as a result tried to appear more attractive to others. She began to enjoy other people's company, eventually kissing a girl who she didn't like very much, but she did like the attention.

Anri eventually comes in contact with Charles Eyler, and finds him odd. However, she is interested in him because she thinks he may be "stuffed full of maggots" like she thinks she is. They begin to date on a whim.

At one point, her father tells her to hang out with her brother. Henry talks about a "Space Idol Guriri" who he spent a lot of money on. Anri criticizes him for not liking real girls, and he calls them gross. Despite finding Anri "kinda" gross, he cuddles with Anri due to how starved for body contact he is.

Charles starts to break down, and Anri tells him to go to the doctor. Charles begins to hint at Scarlett's existence, and Anri tries to comfort him by holding his hand. Anri goes to a party at the end of the year, and gets drunk, and someone spikes her drink. She gets upset at being not enough, and when she wakes up, she is surrounded by other girls.

In Entry 12, Charles starts taking pills. They go on normal dates, and it's exactly how Anri wanted it to be. Anri brags to her friends that Charles and her had sex, and shows Charles the lies she said in the group chat. She gets upset when he is unbothered by this issue, and they watch a movie. "C"/Vincent commits suicide soon after this, and Anri is forced to move into another town. While she is away, she tries to contact Charles as his mental health severely worsens, and Scarlett often takes over Charles' and Anri's messages.

At one point, Anri never hears from Charles again. She returns to the town a year later, and finds out that his mother was buried in a cemetary. She leaves behind a bouqet, realizing that Charles has likely committed suicide.
