Magcat refers to both Charlotte's pet Magcat and the magcats seen throughout the Hello Charlotte Series.

Appearance[]

The magcat is a maggot-like white cat with no eyes. It has two cat ears atop its round head, and it's mouth is open all of the time. It has four short legs, and a maggot-like body. When the magcats die in Hello Charlotte 2, they are covered with maggots.

Story[]

Hello Charlotte 1[]

Magcat first appears when Charlotte gets ready to fall asleep. Charlotte has the option to hide when the magcat crawls into her room, and if she does she will remark that her magcat scared Seth. She snuggles into bed with her magcat and falls asleep.

The magcat is seen again at the end of the game after Charlotte takes her pills appearing as a normal cat. Charlotte still calls it magcat though, implying that this is actually her cat's name.

Hello Charlotte 2[]

Magcat is seen again at the start of Day 1, when Charlotte feeds her magcat Magfood. When going to school, she can overhear some other students talking about the stray magcats in the garden. When Charlotte returns home, she will see her magcat sleeping on Bennett's lap.

Stray Magcats are found in the School Garden on Day 6, when Anri tells Charlotte that there are stray magcats in the garden and that the two should go feed them. Charlotte buys food, and is only able to afford Junk Food. They feed the magcats this food happily.

On Day 25, the magcats are both seen and referenced to. Charlotte has the option to draw a magcat in the drawing lesson, and Charlotte also goes to feed the magcats in the garden. When she gets to the garden, however, all of the magcats are dead. Charlotte becomes distressed and Frei appears to her, telling Charlotte that they cannot use the Oracle's power to ressurect the magcats without Charlotte's organs failing. Frei tells her that they should still give the magcats a proper burial, and Charlotte presumably buries them and returns to class.

During class, the Teacher says that the magcats died because of the xylitol found in junk food. The Teacher notes that this is an extremely cruel way of killing a magcat, which causes Charlotte to vomit ink and pass out as she realizes she killed the magcats. Her classmates torment her, and C carries her to the Infirmary after she passes out.

Hello Charlotte 3[]

Magcats are seen briefly in Hello Charlotte 3, when Florence and Scarlett find O91's room. There are magcats who infested the lab and killed the scientists within it. None of the magcats move or speak in this area. Florence mentions that she would like a magcat for a pet, but workers aren't allowed to have one. These magcats are also noted as the things that killed the scientists.

Delirium[]

Charlotte's magcat is seen at the beginning of Delirium, when Charlotte decides that she should probably feed her magcat some cockroaches. The magcat is disappointed in this decision.

Trivia[]

Charlotte says the following quote when the Magcat is first introduced, "One day, my cat turned into a maggot. Or was he a maggot all along that turned into a cat?" It is heavily implied that the magcat is a cat turned into a maggot at the end of Episode 1.
The xylitol cited as the reason the magcats in Episode Two died is not actually harmful to cats, who can tolerate 1000 mg/kg bw doses of it. Xylitol is, however, poisonous to dogs and can cause a hypoglycemic reaction.
Florence notes that magcats feed on strong emotions, mainly negative ones such as fear.
